Your privacy
Blue Psychology respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, protect and share your personal and health information, and how you can exercise your privacy rights. We handle your information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy and health-records laws.
Information we collect and use
We collect information needed to provide psychological services and manage your care. This may include your contact details, health history, referrals, assessment responses, clinical records and relevant Medicare or payment information.
We usually collect information directly from you, including through forms, conversations and consultations. With your consent, or where otherwise permitted by law, we may also receive information from your referring practitioner or others involved in your care.
We use this information to provide treatment, communicate with you, manage appointments and payments, maintain clinical records and meet our professional and legal responsibilities. If you prefer not to provide particular information, please discuss this with us so we can explain any effect on your care.
Sharing your information
Your information is confidential. We may share relevant information with your consent, with service providers supporting necessary practice services, or where disclosure is required or permitted by law. This can include communication with your referring GP as agreed with you.
Legal exceptions may include court orders, mandatory reporting and circumstances involving a serious threat to health or safety. We limit disclosures to information appropriate to the purpose. We do not sell your personal or health information.
Digital health information
Information handled through telehealth and clinical documentation systems is protected as health information. Where consultation recordings or transcripts are created, they are used to support clinical documentation and are subject to the same confidentiality and access safeguards as other health information.
Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access or disclosure. Access is limited to authorised people who need it for their role. We use selected service providers to support functions such as communications, telehealth and payments.
Clinical records are retained for applicable legal and professional periods and securely disposed of when no longer required. Records may need to be kept longer where a legal matter or another obligation requires it.
Website information
Our website uses essential cookies or similar technologies, and limited device and connection information, to provide its functions and help keep services secure. We do not currently use third-party website analytics.
Access and correction
You can ask to access or correct your personal information by contacting us. If a legal exception limits what we can provide, we will explain the reason and any available alternatives.
Questions and complaints
For privacy enquiries, access or correction requests, or complaints, email office@bluepsych.com.au.
If you make a privacy complaint, we will acknowledge it, review your concerns and respond with our findings and proposed next steps. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the relevant state or territory privacy authority.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or information-handling practices change. The current version and its update date will be available on our website.
